Jayson Antonoff's Biography

2008 DCC Session: Urban Sustainability: Lessons from Denmark

Jayson Antonoff
Jayson Antonoff, Seattle Green Building Team, Energy / Climate Change Advisor and City Capital Projects Advisor

Jayson started his career as an electrical design engineer, but soon discovered he was most interested in broad-based systems thinking, and the challenges and opportunities that lie on the boundaries between disciplines.  He went on to co-found several companies in disparate fields such as legal services, software consulting and renewable energy consulting, until coming to embrace the benefits of sustainable development in the built environment.  In his last business venture, International Sustainable Solutions, he and his partner, Patricia Chase, have led over almost 20 delegations of local professionals to Scandinavia, Germany, Brazil, Australia, and China to visit leading sustainable communities and research best practices in urban sustainability.

Jayson has a graduate degree in Sustainable Energy Planning from Aalborg University in Denmark, and is currently the Energy and Climate Change Advisor with the City of Seattle’s Department of Planning and Development.  There he supports sustainability within the City’s own capital projects, and is helping to developing the policies and initiatives that help keep Seattle its leadership role in combating climate change.
