The importance of the family in transmitting cultural traditions and social values to younger generations is well understood by the Northwest Danish Foundation. 

Consequently, the Foundation supports this role of families through sponsorship in the Pacific Northwest region of a variety of Danish traditional events such as Julestue, Fastelavns, and Sankt. Hans Aften; through support for local Danish song and drama groups; through regularly scheduled support/play groups for mothers with young children; and through group dinners for young adults and families.  Furthermore, our Family program, targeted in part to younger families, fosters the development of a next generation of Foundation leadership and helps ensure the Foundation’s long-term sustainability. 

The Foundation’s proactive outreach to seniors additionally informs our community’s understanding of family and helps ensure that seniors remain a valued part of our larger community.
