Museum of History and Industry

Join us for our next Happy Danes outing as we tour the Museum of History and Industry.  MOHAI is the definitive place for everyone with a passion, curiosity, or questions about the history of Seattle and King County.   Their current featured exhibit:

PICTURING THE CENTURY: One Hundred Years of Photography from the National Archives.

This exhibit commemorates the end of the 20th century with a selection of photographs from the vast and varied holdings of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). NARA photographs vividly capture the sweeping changes of the last one hundred years. They depict both the mundane and high political drama, society's failings as well as its triumphs, war's ugliness as well as its bravery. This exhibition is arranged in chronological "galleries" as well as seven "portfolios" of talented photographers well represented in NARA's holdings.

Other Museum exhibits include galleries for the NW gold rush, the 1880s "boom town" era of Seattle, salmon fishing in the Pacific NW, and the region's timber industry.  We'll have lunch in nearby Madison Park.  Our tour will include chartered roundtrip transportation, access to the museum and a guided tour.  Cost (to be determined) per person.  Bring $$ for lunch.

We will meet at the Northwest Danish Foundation Seattle office and leave promtly at 10:00am.  Space is limited, so RSVP today!

Happy Danes is a new program of fun, fellowship and exploration.  Future trips include the Museum of Flight, the Washington State Historical Society Museum, the Seattle Asian Art Museum and the orchid greenhouse at Discovery Park.
