The Danish National Girls Choir will perform in Seattle on August 6, 2008, at the University Unitarian Church, 6556 35th Avenue NE. The 7:30 p.m. concert is free and open to the public. The choir’s patroness, former Princess Alexandra Christina (now Countess of Frederiksborg) will be traveling with the choir.
The Danish National Girls Choir has existed for 70 years and is considered a world-class choir. Over the last decade, the choir has won considerable recognition and several prestigious awards. In 2002, the choir was appointed “Choir of the World” at the 10th International Kathaumixw in Canada.
Forty-five girls make up the choir which performs more than 60 concerts annually in venues all over the world such as Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, and the Concert Hall in Beijing’s Forbidden City. Often the DNGC performs in concert with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
The Danish National Girls Choir is the flagship of Denmark’s highly esteemed choir-school. The choir last performed in Seattle in 2002. It was a stellar performance.
