Randers Bykor is a mixed choir with around 70 members,
composed of approximately 50 sopranos and altos, plus 20 bass’ and tenors. Over the
years, the choir has worked closely with the Randers Chamber Orchestra and
symphony orchestras in regional cities Aarhus to the south and Aalborg to the north. We give concerts in local churches,
take part in the annual Randers festival week,
and have given concerts in the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen accompanied by the Zealand
Symphony Orchestra.
For large-scale musical works, we join forces with
other choirs, including those from Aarhus and
Stilling. On a local basis, we often sing with the choir of Randers’ principal church, St. Mortens.
The choir’s
approx. 70 active members are led by the skilled hands of
Lotte Bille Glæsel. Our repertoire stretches from major classic concerts
performed with the Randers Chamber Orchestra, Aarhus-
and Aaborg Symphony Orchestras, to our own intimate church concerts.
The choir also takes part in ‘Korby Randers’ (the Randers choir collective) events, including the concert version of Jesus Christ Superstar performed in the massive assembly hall of Bombardier Transportation’s train factory in February 2006. Other major concerts under this collective umbrella include ”Hør Lyset” held in the high-tech headquarters building of regional bank Sparekassen Kronjylland in Randers in 2004, and ”Chess”, also performed at Bombardier Transportation in the spring of 2003.
